A single tear slid gracefully
Down his cheek, mingling with the blood
I stood, waiting, watching
It slid down into the vial, shimmering with memories
I knew then what to do
But, not even the slightest idea why
A sudden longing filled his eyes, love, urgency, peace
I watched him die there, helpless and afraid
I felt as if I'd lost a close friend
But that was then. And this was now
What little time has ran out, or is running out
Taking the vial like a king, I stood up
It was time to act. Now or never.

During the Final Battle of Hogwarts, Severus is killed by Nagini on Voldemort's orders. He then gives his memories- mainly those of he and Harry's mother, Lily, to Harry so that Harry knows his place and destiny during the War.
